National Consultation Egypt Policies for Energy Efficiency in Building in Egypt 28/5/2009
The National Consultation, organized by MED-ENEC (Energy
Efficiency in the Construction Sector in the
Mediterranean) and JCEE (Egyptian-German Joint Committee
on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Environmental
Protection), brings together all important stakeholders in
order to discuss coherent policy mix and highlight good
examples.
The objectives of the workshop is to establish the status
of energy consumption in the building sector, to estimate
the impact of policy options (improved building standards
and other measures) on building energy consumption growth
and electricity load (highlight the potential for and
importance of energy efficiency in buildings for the
Egyptian economy, power supply equilibrium and state
budget, to assess and discuss policies to further
implementation of low energy building standards, present
good practices in the region and worldwide, formulate
elements of a strategy for improvement of compliance and
enforcement for new public buildings in Egypt and finally
to bring the various stakeholders together and find
Alliances carrying the Green and energy efficient building
movements to bear success.
