OFID Approved Grant to Support Young Interns in Energy Efficiency Program

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) has approved in August 2014 a US$100,000 grant in support of an internship program for youth to address energy efficiency issues. The grant was extended to the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), an organisation based in Cairo who will implement the program.

The program, that is called Arab Program for Sustainable Energy Youth (APSEY), aims to boost technical and operational capacities of young graduates in engineering, energy economics and policy from the Arab regions who are interested in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

As many as 12 young interns will be selected every year under this program on two rounds. They will visit the center’s headquarters, and participate in the center’s research and analysis activities, as well as in policy briefs and technical assistance. The cost of travel and accommodation expenses will be fully covered by the program.
