The Executive Bureau of the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity approves establishing “Certified Energy Management Professional (CEMP)"
May 31 2016, under the patronage of H.E the Egyptian Minster of Electricity and Renewable Energy and chairman of the Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity Dr. Mohamed Shaker, the Executive Bureau of the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity held its thirty-second meeting in Cairo, Egypt.
In the meeting, the Executive Bureau approved the Regional Energy Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency’s (RCREEE) proposal to establish the Certified Energy Management Professional (CEMP). CEMP will be jointly managed by board members from RCREEE and the Arab ministerial council for electricity secretariat.
CEMP aims to raising and improving the professional standards of professionals engaged in energy management through a continuing program of professional development. In addition, it identifies persons with acceptable knowledge of principles and practices of related disciplines and laws governing and affecting energy managers through completing an examination and fulfilling prescribed standards of performance and conduct. CEMP awards special recognitions to energy managers who have demonstrated a high level of competence and ethical fitness for energy management.
CEMP is available for the region experts and managers who are working full time in a governmental, commercial or industrial facility responsible for energy, operation, production or maintenance. Energy service providers and energy management consultants or auditors can also obtain the certification.
“We are excited about launching CEMP program, as it is the first Arab certification for energy professionals. We believe CEMP will equip Arab energy manager with solutions to reduce energy consumption in a cost effective approach. Also it will further support Arab countries in planning and implementing Energy Efficiency plans and related measures and achieve energy targets,” Says RCREEE Executive Director, Eng. Ahmed Badr.
