About » Current Research Projects

RCREEE is engaged in the following research projects:

- Economical, technical and environmental impact assessment of national regulations and incentives for RE & EE: This study is a stock taking exercise in RE and EE policies in the region, which shall critically asses the impact of different regulatory models and incentives, using the methodological framework of evidence bared policy making. It shall serve as a basis for a regional dialogue on the further development of regulations and incentives.

- Mediterranean Solar Plan: RCREEE is actively involved in the efforts to implement the Mediterranean Solar Plan (MSP), initiated as one of the five focus areas of the Mediterranean Union. RCREEE, through its regional network, serves as a platform for the Southern Mediterranean Countries to investigate how they can tap the potentials of the MSP and supports the formulation of a harmonized policy.

- Best Practices for Project Agreements: To bring in the private sector requires bankable projects. This, in turn, depends on project documents which are consistent with international standards. Here, RCREEE assists in formulating best practices for land use and power purchase agreements that can serve as models for the RCREEE member states.

The research projects demonstrate RCREEEs focus of activities, which is not limited to policy matters but also concerned with R&D issues. Further, it shows that RCREEE is flexible to respond to newly emerging questions and needs, such as the potential that the Mediterranean Union brings for the RCREEE Member States
