Wataneya "The Lebanese Center for the Preservation of Energy" has organized a workshop on the "Evaluation of the Environmental and Socio-Economic Impacts of the Lebanese Laws and Incentives Related to Preserving Energy and Renewable Energies" in cooperation with the "Danish Agency for Development". The workshop has been held under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Energy and Water Alan Tabouryan, who was represented by Dr. Fady Qomeir, the general manager of the Water and Electricity Resources at the Ministry. The workshop was a follow-up on the resolutions of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Preserving Energy and Renewable Energies with headquarters in Cairo and including representatives of ten Arab countries, among them Lebanon.

The workshop was attended by the ambassador of Denmark, Mr. Jan Top Christiansen; the First Economic Secretary at the German embassy in Beirut, Mr. Andreas Fiedler; the General Manager of Investment at the Ministry of Energy and Water, Mr. Mahmoud Baroud; the manager and working group of the Lebanese Center for Energy Preservation and a number of relevant experts of energy affairs in Lebanon.

The workshop started with the address of ambassador Christiansen, in which he praised "the efforts exerted in the frame of organizing a workshop and the importance of the topics that were dealt with."

This was followed by the address of Minister Tabouryan, in which he reiterated "the support of the Ministry of both topics of energy preservation and renewable energies". He considers that "the Lebanese Center for Preserving Energy is carrying out the necessary national role and is assisting the Ministry in adopting a clear strategy in this field."

The workshop aims at following up on the recommendations and the working program of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Energy Preservation and Renewable Energies. The Danish Development Agency is commissioned to organize the workshop in ten Arab countries for evaluating the policies, laws and incentives related to energy preservation and renewable energies and for studying the environmental and socio-economic impacts. This would move the said countries towards upgrading those policies and exchanging experiences among each other.
